i'm here

i've reached prague- took the same flight to frankfurt as i would if i were flying back to new york... except this time i went off from transit in frankfurt to prague instead.

prague
prag
praha

prahahui. so that's the new me...
armed with an american accent made dusty from spending summer at home ( i don't like!), and too many nervous giggles, i will attempt to assimilate into this four-month program in prague!

i have met many kids from all across the country, mostly non-vassar-ish (case in point: all the boys are polo-neck-preppy...) and well... in all shades of white. i am the only student of colour, and that's yellow. haha...

so far the most exhausting thing besides making friends is lugging luggage across cobblestone roads- they are all cobblestone. and the green men flash for about two seconds before turning red! and the drivers also turn red when you don't cross the road in two seconds, which i don't!

speaking english kind of visibly turns the czechs off. americans also typically have loud, trailing voices... starting intensive czech pronto is going to be helpful. ...what is not helpful is that the beer and the drinking has started! and im a lightweight and a sleepyhead... zzz... we took a dinner cruise down the river today...very touristy and a very nice start to seeing the city in all its old charm splendor... and also a bit nostalgic for how much has changed in me since i came here for three days last summer. most people on my program haven't been here.

funny thing is the general consensus is that turkey seems to emerge as the number one country to check out "in the region"...and i've been there too! so i can blabber on and on about it... or not.

i like my room-mate- she's pretty tiny, like me, and from mt holyoke. except she had a room-mate who stole from her very compulsively, so she's a little bit paranoid, understandably, which is fine... im paranoid about other things... like dirt and washing my hands.
